Senior living industry advocates are cheering the introduction of legislation to reauthorize the Older Americans Act (OAA), which would renew funding for programs that support older adults.
A broad group of bipartisan senators from key congressional committees came together to introduce the bill to reauthorize the OAA, which has served more than 10 million older adults annually through preventive health and community-based services for more than 60 years.
Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee; Bernie Sanders (I-VT), ranking member of the HELP Committee; Rick Scott (R-FL), chair of the Senate Special Committee on Aging; Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), ranking member of the Senate Aging Committee; Susan Collins (R-ME); Tim Kaine (D-VA); Markwayne Mullin (R-OK); Ed Markey (D-MA); Lisa Murkowski (R-AK); and Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) reintroduced the bill to reauthorize the OAA.
