AltaMed Health Services, the nation’s largest independent federally qualified community health center, has opened its first Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) in Orange County, CA, with locations in Santa Ana and Anaheim to provide comprehensive health services to frail seniors.
The PACE program makes it possible for those who are frail and meet nursing home eligibility criteria to live with dignity and pride in their own homes while receiving comprehensive health and support services. The two new large facilities offer comprehensive health services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social services, recreational activities, meals, transportation and an on-site pharmacy.
“The need for affordable specialized health care programs for aging adults is growing at a rapid rate as boomers continue to come of age,” said Esiquio Casillas, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer at AltaMed PACE. “Although our PACE centers are new to Orange County, AltaMed has been a leader in PACE in Los Angeles County for 25 years. Our program provides seniors with access to health services and helps them be more socially engaged with their peers and live longer, healthier and independently in their homes with comprehensive services that cater to the individual’s needs.”
Earlier this year, AltaMed opened its first Orange County PACE center in Anaheim. The AltaMed PACE program has 11 sites serving more than 3,300 seniors in 60 cities throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties.
