October 18, 2016

Kenneth J. Comeiro, Jr., MS, ANP, has joined the clinical team of Element Care, in Lowell, MA, as coordinator of Advanced Practice Services in its Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®). Comeiro has 16 years of experience as a nurse practitioner, working in all aspects of cardiology subspecialties, geriatrics, end-of-life care and nursing home care. He teaches in the Graduate Nurse Practitioner program at Simmons College in Boston.

In his role as coordinator of Advanced Practice Services, Comeiro will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the nurse practitioners at Element Care PACE centers in the Merrimack Valley and North Shore to ensure excellence in care delivery; developing educational opportunities that promote healthy aging for PACE participants and their families; and serving as a clinician in the Lowell PACE Center to support the medical needs of the community.

“With our growth to eight PACE centers, there was a need to create this new role to ensure that our NPs will continue to excel at applying clinical best practices that help our participants live better and longer lives,” said Elisabeth Broderick, medical director at Element Care. “Given his extensive experience as a nurse practitioner and teaching in the field, Kenneth will be a valuable resource as an NP team leader, care provider, and community educator on healthy aging.”

Comeiro has worked in a wide array of nurse practitioner positions in cardiac and geriatric care, including at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, Emerson Hospital, and Lahey Clinic at Arlington Community Practice. He also works with the University of Massachusetts Lowell preceptor program and is a member of the legislative committee of the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

“Having spent my entire career working with older adults, I’m thrilled to be joining PACE at Element Care and look forward to working with the other NPs and the interdisciplinary care teams where everyone’s opinion matters,” said Comeiro. “It’s a privilege to be part of the team delivering highly coordinated care and supporting Element Care’s mission to help people live as long and as well as they can in their homes and community.”

Founded in 1995, Element Care is a nonprofit health care organization that provides complete health care through PACE to eligible people in the Massachusetts North Shore, the Merrimack Valley, and the northeast region of Middlesex County.
