Life After PACE: How Closing a Program Impacts the Health Outcomes of Former Participants

When a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) closes, higher numbers of emergency department visits, hospitalizations and nursing home placements occur for former participants, according to new research in the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

The qualitative analysis was conducted by research director Elizabeth Ciemins, PhD, MPH, MA, of the Billings Clinic, in Billings, MT, along with colleagues Miranda Meunier, GNP-BC, nurse scientist Jeannine Brant, PhD, APRN, Simmy Audet, RN, Karen Gransbery, RN, and research data analyst Dustin Dickerson, MS.
