May Is National Osteoporosis Month

May 18, 2018

National Osteoporosis Month in May is led by the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF), which hopes you will join in celebrating bone health.

The foundation provides a wealth of tools and resources to encourage people to build strong bones and prevent or manage osteoporosis. Critical elements in building peak bone mass and maintaining bone strength throughout our lives include a healthy diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, calcium and vitamin D, as well as weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening exercise.

Learn about the Jumping Jack Challenge this month, and help spread the word to raise awareness about bone health and resources for research.

Visit the National Osteoporosis Month webpage for more details, and check out the rest of the NOF website for additional information about ways to prevent and manage osteoporosis. The website offers special sections for professionals and patients.
