Samira Beckwith to Receive Women of Distinction Award

Samira K. Beckwith, president and CEO of Hope Healthcare, has been inducted into the Hall of Honor in the McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards, a joint program of McKnight’s Long-Term Care News and McKnight’s Senior Living.

The awards program, in its second year, recognizes women who have made significant contributions to the senior living and skilled nursing professions or have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the fields.

“The dedication and commitment shown by our Hall of Honor recipients truly sets them apart,” said McKnight’s editorial director John O’Connor.

With more than 30 years of state government leadership and nonprofit executive experience, he will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day marketing operations, the enrollment process and community outreach.

Gary and Mary West PACE Opens in San Diego North County

A Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) has come to North County of San Diego with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony today for the nonprofit Gary and Mary West PACE in San Marcos, CA. Established with a grant from the Gary and Mary West Foundation, the nearly 20,000-square foot center offers high-quality, comprehensive and coordinated health care, social services and support for vulnerable seniors with chronic care needs who want to successfully age in place rather than in a nursing home.

NPA Announces Election Results for 2020 Board of Directors

Seven members have been elected to the 2020 National PACE Association (NPA) Board of Directors. Re-elected were Philip Chuang, senior vice president of Clinical Services at Kaiser Permanente, in Oakland, CA, and Laura Wagner, senior PACE advisor at Element Care in Lynn, MA.

The first two quarters of 2019 saw Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) nationally serve an additional 1,834 participants, bringing the total estimated number of participants to 50,955 in June. For these new participants, PACE growth means a higher quality of life and care, with fewer hospitalizations, emergency room visits and nursing home stays.

LIFE Geisinger Lewistown Celebrates Official Opening

LIFE Geisinger celebrated the official opening of its new location in Lewistown, PA, on May 1.

The first 10 participants in the program joined medical director Richard Martin, MD, director Robert McQuillan and LIFE staff members in marking the special occasion.

LIFE Geisinger offers specialized services to help seniors live independently.

CareLink and PACE Organization of Rhode Island Reach Growth Milestone

CareLink, a nonprofit management organization, and PACE Organization of Rhode Island (PACE-RI) have reached new stages of growth that require changes to the top post of each organization. Joan Kwiatkowski, who has served as CEO of both companies since their inception, will transition to be the full-time CEO of PACE-RI beginning April 1, and Christine Gadbois, DNP, will assume interim leadership duties of CareLink at that time.

Florida PACE Centers Set PACE 2.0 Aim of 1,430 Participants by 2021

Florida PACE Centers, Inc., based in Miami, is the first Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) organization to set its PACE 2.0 growth aim. PACE 2.0 is a national initiative to increase the number of people served by PACE organizations from approximately 50,000 today to 100,000 by 2021.

The goal of Florida PACE Centers is to serve 1,430 participants by Dec. 31, 2021. The organization, which currently serves 837 participants, estimates that reaching its goal will require an average net monthly enrollment of 19 participants.
