Andi McDonough Named Vice President of Rocky Mountain PACE

Andi McDonough has been named vice president of Rocky Mountain PACE, according to an announcement by Rocky Mountain Health Care Services (RMHCS) in Colorado Springs, CO.

“Allowing patients to participate in their own care is our first priority,” said McDonough, who brings more than 20 years of leadership and patient care experience to her new position. Her key emphasis has been on patient-centered care while working collaboratively with members of the health care team to achieve these goals.

NPA Publishes First PACE Quality Director’s Handbook

The National PACE Association (NPA) has published its first PACE Quality Director’s Handbook.

The handbook is a resource for both new and experienced quality professionals within PACE organizations.

The PACE Quality Director’s Handbook outlines the responsibilities of the PACE quality leader as defined by PACE regulations and is intended to assist in the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of a robust quality improvement program, as well as to serve as a reference for other PACE staff involved in quality improvement efforts.

June 15 Is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). The global observance was launched in 2006 by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization at the United Nations.

Better Hearing & Speech Month 2018

May is Better Hearing & Speech Month (BHSM). The annual observance provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of members of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in providing life-altering treatment.

Dr. J. Eugene Lammers Named AGS Clinician of the Year

J. Eugene Lammers, MD, MPH, FACP, AGSF, medical director at Mercy LIFE of Alabama, has been named 2018 Clinician of the Year by the American Geriatrics Society (AGS). He will be honored at the 2018 AGS Annual Scientific Meeting next month in Orlando, FL.

Sonja Felton, MPA, MSW, has accepted the position of executive director at Huron Valley PACE.

“My goal is to lead Huron Valley PACE to new heights of success and elevation,” she said. “I am excited about the opportunity to expand our organization, become a leader in elder health care in our community, become a nationally recognized PACE organization, and provide visionary leadership to the organization.”

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day Is March 14

March is National Nutrition Month®, when the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics reminds everyone to return to the basics of healthful eating. March is also when the academy celebrates Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, honoring the contributions and expertise of registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) as the food and nutrition experts. This year, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day is March 14.

St. Paul's PACE Opens East Center in El Cajon

A ribbon-cutting celebration for a new location of St. Paul’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) was held on Feb. 23. The St. Paul’s PACE East Center will open in El Cajon, CA, in early March.

The new center will serve as an extension of the two existing St. Paul’s PACE locations in downtown San Diego and Chula Vista.
