Dr. J. Eugene Lammers Named AGS Clinician of the Year

J. Eugene Lammers, MD, MPH, FACP, AGSF, medical director at Mercy LIFE of Alabama, has been named 2018 Clinician of the Year by the American Geriatrics Society (AGS). He will be honored at the 2018 AGS Annual Scientific Meeting next month in Orlando, FL.

Sonja Felton Named Executive Director of Huron Valley PACE

Sonja Felton, MPA, MSW, has accepted the position of executive director at Huron Valley PACE.

“My goal is to lead Huron Valley PACE to new heights of success and elevation,” she said. “I am excited about the opportunity to expand our organization, become a leader in elder health care in our community, become a nationally recognized PACE organization, and provide visionary leadership to the organization.”

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day Is March 14

March is National Nutrition Month®, when the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics reminds everyone to return to the basics of healthful eating. March is also when the academy celebrates Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day, honoring the contributions and expertise of registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) as the food and nutrition experts. This year, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day is March 14.

St. Paul's PACE Opens East Center in El Cajon

A ribbon-cutting celebration for a new location of St. Paul’s Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) was held on Feb. 23. The St. Paul’s PACE East Center will open in El Cajon, CA, in early March.

The new center will serve as an extension of the two existing St. Paul’s PACE locations in downtown San Diego and Chula Vista.

Volunteerism at Fallon Health Benefits Underserved Populations

Fallon Health, based in Worcester, MA, advanced its commitment to addressing health care barriers in underserved populations with a robust year of employee volunteerism and strategic financial support.

Fallon employees contributed thousands of volunteer hours last year to address health care challenges of at-risk populations. That was in addition to the other giving initiatives of the organization, which include grants, hunger relief funding and sponsorships to more than 250 organizations across the state.

Ritu Suri, MD, CMD, is the new medical director, and Christine Lesicko, RN, BSN, MBA, has been named vice president and executive director. Lutheran Senior LIFE is a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) that delivers health care services to Hudson County seniors with chronic care needs.

On Lok Lifeways Opens Second PACE Center in San Jose

To help address the growing need for more senior health care services in Silicon Valley, On Lok Lifeways is opening a second PACE center in San Jose, CA. A public ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided tours are scheduled for Jan. 25. The Bay Area-based nonprofit now will have the capacity to serve more than 350 nursing home-eligible senior residents in Santa Clara County across two sites.

Schreiber Named PACE Medical Director and VP, Salisbury Promoted to Executive Director

Robert Schreiber, MD, has been named vice president and medical director of the Fallon Health Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®), and Annamaria Salisbury, MPA, has been promoted to executive director of Summit ElderCare in Worcester, MA.

Saint Francis LIFE Welcomes New Medical Director

Paul Eberts, MD, is the new medical director of Saint Francis LIFE in Delaware.

"I am looking forward to working with LIFE's comprehensive team and the LIFE provider network in caring for the elderly and providing the highest quality medical care to help them age in place in the community," said Dr. Eberts, who is board-certified in family and geriatric medicine.

He will be responsible for the 229 participants at Saint Francis LIFE who live in New Castle County.
