PACE Adult Day Centers Invited to Participate in Study of LTC Providers

The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has initiated the third wave of a nationally representative survey of adult day services centers, including Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®), as part of its National Study of Long-Term Care Providers.

The biennial study is designed to collect national and state-level information about the operational characteristics, services, participant fee revenue sources, staffing, and demographics and health status of the participants served.

Element Care Celebrates Khmer Community

The Element Care Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®), in Lowell, MA, recently hosted its first rooftop event to celebrate and thank the Khmer community and its leadership. More than 70 people attended the event, enjoying a Khmer buffet dinner, traditional music from a local band, and Khmer art exhibited by Chantha Khem, of Lowell.

New Executive Director for Greater California InnovAge Center in San Bernardino

Jaime Todd, MBA, has been named executive director of the InnovAge Greater California Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) Day/Health Center in San Bernardino, CA.

Todd brings more than 30 years of operational management experience in health and human services to the position.

Most recently, he served as chief support executive for the State of California, where he implemented court-ordered health care turn-around plans. Previously, he was a hospital administrator with the California Department of Veteran Affairs, overseeing multiple sites.

Molly Crumley Honored for Work with Residents, Staff Who Are Blind and Deaf

Molly Crumley, RN, director of operations at the Mercy LIFE Valley View Center, in Elwyn, PA, was recognized for her work with residents and staff who are blind and deaf.

She received the Sister Mary Concilia Moran Award from the Catholic Health Association of the United States.

The annual award is one of the top honors bestowed on professionals working in Catholic health care organizations.

Dan Driscoll, President and CEO of Harbor Health Services, Will Retire This Fall

Dan Driscoll, president and CEO of Harbor Health Services, based in Mattapan, MA, will retire in October after 39 years.

"PACE was a new and not widely known model when Harbor made the commitment back in 1994 and hired three staff to plan our program," Driscoll said. "We subsequently opened in 1996. We just celebrated our 20th anniversary. It has been an immensely satisfying experience for me."

State Sen. Eileen Donoghue recently visited the new Element Care Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®) in downtown Lowell, MA. The PACE center is one of the most advanced in the country.

Sen. Donoghue met with executive director Robert Wakefield, the medical team and program participants to learn about the vision of Element Care and its care model for healthy aging in the community. PACE is helping to address the needs of the aging population in Lowell and surrounding Merrimack Valley communities.
