Catherine Nierenberg, MS, CCC-SLP, has been promoted to director of Rehabilitation at Element Care PACE in Lynn, MA. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a final rule today to update the fire protection guidelines for certain health care facilities, including Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE®), to improve protections for Medicare beneficiaries.

President Signs Older Americans Act Reauthorization

President Obama signed the Older Americans Act (OAA) Reauthorization Act of 2016 into law yesterday.

This action, said Kathy Greenlee, assistant secretary for Aging, "reaffirms our nation’s commitment to the health and well-being of older adults."

Last summer, the president called on Congress to reauthorize the important legislation as part of his remarks at the White House Conference on Aging.

Hattie Forney, CNA, Named Outstanding Professional in Aging

Hattie Forney, a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Alexian Brothers PACE, in Chattanooga, TN, received the Eleanor Johnson Outstanding Professional in Aging Award at the Southeast Tennessee Active Aging Forum on April 1.
