Job description:
The Transportation Director, under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director, is responsible for developing a strategic plan that includes procurement and retirement of vehicles, implementing policies, procedures, safety, and training programs that will ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations and guidelines, as well as client guidelines and policies. They are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the transportation staff, specifically the Drivers, Bus Attendants, Schedule Coordinators, and Fleet Manager, along with the maintenance of all vehicles to ensure that the daily operations and the needs of PACE clients are served effectively, efficiently, and delivered based on client requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership and manages the transportation staff, ensuring coordination of services across all locations, that participant safety is maintained, and that staff is effectively performing.
- Ensures all vehicles are maintained for optimum performance through preventative maintenance and managing the FDOT grant program
- Develops a strategy for goals and objectives to meet the future needs of the organization
- Provides a strategy and leadership to ensure technology is adopted and used to facilitate optimal outcomes for all stakeholders
- Utilizes transportation routing software to gain an understanding of Palm Beach County streets and routes
- Advances the goals and objectives of the organization by developing supporting department-specific performance goals, implementing quality improvement plans in the department, monitoring financial targets, and working collaboratively with other managers on issues related to quality programming, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Ensures delivery of quality services by overseeing the department’s compliance with regulatory requirements, including FDOT and ADA, updates to policies and procedures, and safety guidelines, while leading continuous process improvement and risk management efforts.
- Serves as an effective link with administration through effective communication, productive collaboration, demonstrated leadership, and facilitation of change opportunities
- Ensures all necessary program records are maintained according to policy
- Collects and maintains data for reporting purposes
- Participates in department meetings and in-services as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's/Master's in Business Administration or equivalent, preferred
- CDL License
- 2 years related field experience and/or training, equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-year experience with the frail and elderly
