Mary Naber: Protect Medicaid Benefits for the Elderly

“If the U.S. Senate moves forward with major reductions to Medicaid passed by the House of Representatives, millions of people will lose the health insurance coverage that enables them to access health care services that keep them out of expensive facilities like nursing homes and hospitals,” writes Mary Naber, president and CEO of PACE Southeast Michigan. “If we believe Americans have a right to health care, we have a duty to protect the benefits Medicaid provides.”

In an opinion piece published in The Detroit News, Naber said, “A woman who receives care at one of our Wayne County locations recently shared with us how grateful she is for PACE. She's so thankful that, despite her chronic conditions, she's able to get the care she needs to remain independent in the home she loves. The funding PACE receives from Medicaid helps make that possible.”
