Posted on: July 25, 2025

AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving have released Caregiving in the US 2025, revealing a 45 percent increase in family caregivers over the past decade.

Today, 63 million Americans, or one in four adults, are providing care to those living with chronic conditions or disabilities. They assist with daily activities, personal care and complex medical tasks while also coordinating care, managing appointments, and advocating with health care professionals and service providers.

The report highlights the growing complexity of care, the financial and emotional toll on family caregivers, and the urgent need for supportive policies. As caregiving becomes a national norm, the findings underscore the importance of strengthening the systems that support those providing care.
