WASHINGTON, DC – MARCH 12, 2024 – At its Spring Policy Forum in Washington, DC, this week, the National PACE Association (NPA) presented awards to elected officials and leaders who have helped to expand the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).

Two inaugural Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) and Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR-3). The awards recognize notable federal officials who have demonstrated visionary leadership and extraordinary dedication to the success of PACE throughout their careers.

Public Service Awards were presented to state and federal officials instrumental in advancing the efforts of PACE. This year's recipients were Sen. Bill Cassidy, MD (R-LA); Rep. Brad Wenstrup, DPM (R-OH-2); and Adam Herbst, deputy commissioner of the New York State Department of Health.

Leaders of PACE program across the country participated in the two-day Spring Policy Forum. At the conclusion of the forum, many took part in PACE Capitol Hill Day, visiting the offices of senators and representatives to ask that they co-sponsor the PACE Part D Choice Act, which would put PACE on a level playing field with other Medicare beneficiaries regarding prescription costs; support the Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act; and visit a PACE program in the cities and states they represent.

“We are proud to honor these individuals who work tirelessly to give more Americans access to PACE, which allows elderly individuals to age in place in their own homes, fully cared for with all of their health care needs met by an interdisciplinary team,” said Shawn Bloom, president and CEO of NPA.
