Regulatory Relief for PACE

PACE organizations face a significant and growing regulatory burden that threatens to divert attention and resources away from their core mission: delivering comprehensive, person-centered care to older adults with complex needs. While regulation plays an important role in ensuring accountability and safety, the complexity of regulatory changes across federal agencies has become increasingly difficult for PACE programs to navigate. Many new or revised requirements are administratively burdensome, overlapping, or misaligned with the integrated nature of the PACE model.

Consistent with the broader policy of the administration to reduce federal regulation, several executive agencies have issued requests for information (RFIs) soliciting recommendations on opportunities for deregulation, including potential changes to Medicare regulations. PACE providers welcome the opportunity to share how streamlining or modernizing regulations could support innovation, reduce administrative costs, and enhance participant care. Regulatory relief is not about avoiding oversight; it’s about creating space for PACE organizations to focus on keeping frail older adults healthy, independent, and living in their communities.
